Economic genocide against black people in SVG

SVG Green Party is making a very strong call on the United Nations to urgently provide food aid to St. Vincent, to stop the massive rise in the number of black Vincentians who are being forced to eat from rubbish bins in the capital, Kingstown, to survive.

There is a high level of unemployment and poverty in SVG and this has led to widespread hunger and malnutrition. The lack of food problem in SVG is comparable to Haiti.

In a deliberate act of economic genocide, the indigenous black people are being pushed to the ground by Taiwan, the super-rich, white foreigners of Mustique and Canouan and the ruling ULP regime. The ULP government grants Taiwan and the super-rich, white foreigners of Mustique and Canouan blanket tax and customs duty exemptions, estimated to be worth EC$2.5 billion annually.

In collusion, the ULP government, Taiwan and the super-rich, white foreigners of Mustique and Canouan are choking the SVG Treasury of about EC$2.5 billion annually, by their tax and customs duty exemptions scandal.

According to Mr Ivan O’Neal, who has a Master of Science degree in Macro-Economics, Planning Policy from Bradford University, England, the consequence of this tax evasion scheme is that the SVG government lacks finance to provide the infrastructure to stimulate significant employment and economic growth.

This has led to high unemployment and hunger in the indigenous black population, as thousands of poorer households have little or no income, and fail to feed their households adequately. That is why we are calling on the United Nations to bring food aid to St. Vincent to halt the devastating impact of the economic genocide against black people in SVG.

The tax exemption scandal is a crime against humanity and needs urgent action by the international community and the International Criminal Court. The SVG economy is dangerously weak and is getter weaker. Our people are going hungry.

The United Nation needs to bring supplementary food rations to prevent increases in acute malnutrition rates and provide food aid to children aged under five, pregnant women and nursing mothers through the first 1,000 days to prevent stunting and micronutrient deficiencies.

The United Nations needs to deliver daily hot meals to thousands of schoolchildren to provide a country-wide food safety net to improve children’s diet. There is massive food insecurity in SVG and the country is in a state of massive hunger.

The blanket tax and customs duty exemptions given to the super-rich, white foreigners of Mustique and Canouan should be abolished. They should pay tax.

Taiwan’s exemption to not pay fish tax under the SVG Fish Act 2001 is ridiculous. Taiwan uses SVG’s fish licence and SVG’s national flag on its fleet of fishing vessels to fish for tuna in the Atlantic Ocean. They should pay tax on their fish sales.

SVG has gone from colonialism to economic genocide in the 37 years of so-called independence. We broke the back of colonialism and we must break the back of the economic genocide. Taiwan and the super-rich, white foreigners of Mustique and Canouan are parasites sucking the economic lifeblood out of our country.

The United Nations urgently needs to provide food aid to St. Vincent to stop thousands of black Vincentians being wiped out through economic genocide.
