SVG Green party is very concerned with the ULP's U-turn from democracy towards dictatorship. The ULP amendment No 4 of 2005, of the Representation of the Peoples Act, discriminates against SVG Green Party who does not yet have an elected member of the House of Assembly.
The ULP regime used tax payers money and gave the ULP and NDP the sum of EC$52,000 each, to pay the wages of their 152 scrutineers in the present remuneration exercise, and barred SVG Green Party from nominating people for the appointment of scrutineers. The ULP refused SVG Green Party the payment of EC$ 52,000 for the wages of scrutineers, because SVG Green Party does not have elected members in the House of Assembly.
Discrimination is strictly prohibited under Section 13, Protection from Discrimination, in the Constitution of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. SVG Green Party is calling on the ULP regime to urgently repeal Amendment No 4 of the Representation of Peoples Act.
Discrimination is the embryo of dictatorship. The international community will not allow Section 13 Protection from Discrimination in the Constitution of SVG to be violated.
SVG Green Party will always stand up and fight for its constitutional and democratic rights.
